This is NOT a glorification of hunting, rifles, shooting endangered animals or similar. I already had this idea to adapt a scope into my painting, 'Leopard's hunt' of Feb 2020, days after it was painted.
I merely want viewers to think about it, why hunt after such beautiful animal that is NOT a threat to the hunter or anyone else present? To ease the impact, it was well chosen that the gunpoint was not pointed at the leopard directly. So we might even state that this hunter .... is an animal friend and just wanted to have a better look at this other hunter!
Please enjoy and feel free to comment. And no, I am not a pacifist, nor triggerhappy.
This is a great idea for a painting and well executed! I am assuming you made the crosshair with gesso or acrylic first?
Next creative step! Good!
Dear Jin, you fully understood the meaning behind this painting!
Till next one my friend!
Dear Lightsnow, the crosshair was made by ….. 'Paint'! I just uploaded the painting in that program and hand drew the thin lines and numbers.
I used my painting 'Leopard's hunt' (black gesso and oils) for this purpose since the object (the leopard) fits perfectly for it, also concerning its location inside the painting.
Well Sunnylady ….. you know me already a little so …. simply couldn't resist this little sidestep! :) :) :)
What an inventive and creative image- LOVE it!!! Really nice work!
Hehehe Mhk, this painting lent itself for such purpose and I took it on. Glad you like it so much, also the intention behind it!
Stay safe my friend, and till next one!
I may "borrow" this image ;-)
For my friends, never a problem! :)
I may have to put a little MHK twist on it ;-)
I would LOVE that!!!
Stay tuned - but the kids are not in school so hopefully this madness is over soon ;-)
No worries MHK, make us proud!
Neat! You are really good at silhouettes! Did you use contact paper for the circle?
For this, a drafting compass was used and then the outer circle was painted with black gesso along the carbon line. Inside, I used liquid clear and only transparent colours.

First of all, I think the work is very good. Many people love and want to spend peace and I am one of them. I don't want to agree on hunting except for the extermination of harmful animals. Anyway stay safe my friend!
